Additional The Host: A Novel Information

The author of the Twilight series of # 1 bestsellers delivers her brilliant first novel for adults: a gripping story of love and betrayal in a future with the fate of humanity at stake.

Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of their human hosts while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity has succumbed.

Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of the man Melanie loves-Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer yearns for a man she's never met. As outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off to search for the man they both love.

Featuring what may be the first love triangle involving only two bodies, THE HOST is a riveting and unforgettable novel that will bring a vast new readership to one of the most compelling writers of our time.

What Customers Say About The Host: A Novel:

I found myself deep in this beautiful story, I even took my kindle to work b/c I couldn't put it down. At first I found myself completely lost at the beginning of the book, I am not a Sci-fi lover, however, I decided to continue reading despite the yearn to turn off my kindle. Boy, thank God I did. I cried, I laughed, it was at times emotional but I loved it. Meyer sends a beautiful message, readers just have to get past the confusing-at-times beginning and see how the story beautifully unfolds.

I never want to let these characters go. After reading and rereading the Twilight series books over and over again, I finally brought myself to pick up The Host. I was surprised to find myself absolutely addicted to this book. I love this book, I love the characters, I love the ending. These characters will stick with me for a very long time. I simply couldn't put it down, and that's saying a lot, because it's a very long book.

I hear that a movie is in the works, and I'm thrilled. I had heard that it was very good, but I found it difficult to move past Edward and Bella to read about other characters. I hope that she writes a sequel to the Host. This book blew me away. Stephenie Meyer is a genius. As much as I LOVE the Twilight series and its characters, The Host and its characters impacted me in a much deeper way.

I hope to be able to read more about them.

I knew that she was not THE writer but the host really showed me that she is not a writer all together (well not my style anyway). The characters were not attaching at all and rather annoying. I did not finish the book. Science fiction stories have always been part of my reading and Isaac Asimov one of my favourite, I am a bit upset that some people described the host as "a hybrid combination of Stephen King and Isaac Asimov". I did not want to know the end as I did not really care, which is surprising as Meyer managed to grab my attention with the twilight series even though the writing was average. The host was slow very slow, the feelings were described in a really cliché manner. saying that is just not respecting King and Asimov work really. I would say the book would be perfect for people who really don't like science fiction stories.

I'm not a die-hard sci-fi fan, so there may be something similar in the genre, but for me, this was a new and refreshing twist on alien invasion. It was good. The book was fairly well written, relatively entertaining, and an easy read. Overall, it was good, enjoyable and entertaining. Most of the main characters were pretty well developed. The author's writing style keeps you reading by setting up situations that make you wonder what is coming next and she does a good job of completing each element of the story. However, while not a bad thing, I see this book targeted primarily to female audiences because the protagonists are female with underlying love interests which I don't see holding most men's interest. Because I believe it lacks appeal to men, as well lacking major thought-provoking writing and 'blow your socks off' moments, I'd give this book 3 1/2 stars (which isn't an option, so I'm giving 4).

So, this is a definate must-have if you like The Twilight Saga. So, if you decide to read a Sci-Fi book, demand on The Host.

It was all over the internet so I decided to go on another Stephenie Meyer journey. I bought this book from Barnes & Noble the first week it came out.

I frggin' fell in love with it. Once I finished the 12 chapter, it pulled me in.

I hated noting that the first couple of chapters were pretty boring, and also confusing. It kept me reading ALL night until I was tired.

Enjoy, Twilighters.
